Please Tell Me This Didn’t Really Happen At City Hall …..Please, Please!

Thursday, October 13, 2016 … 8:32 AM

Even I find it difficult to believe what the Shreveport Times reported this morning. In all my years here, this incompetence and bizarro messing-up and messing-around just didn’t happen.

As best we can tell, here are the headline facts:

….. Mayor Tyler and her administration underbilled $1,000,000-or so in water usage to what must be our wealthier folk.

…..Then, those who “discovered” and reported it wanted to charge the City for having done so ….. attorney Michael Wainwright and his client Scott Pernici.

….. Then, Mayor Tyler branded that as attempted blackmail, about which I suspect many will agree. The “finders” were offered a 10% fee by the Mayor – ???!!! – but they seemingly wanted 25% and an otherwise very lucrative “reward.”

(I will stick with doing all of my work pro bono. We can all use the money, but this article certainly reveals the REAL cost of charging to do what is best for your community.)

….. Then, one of the lawyers in the deal is identified as former Parish Attorney Charles Grubb who was in the mix in the CPERS retirement outrage over at the Commission. Mr. Grubb has previously defended all that was done to give taxpayer money to Commissioners for CPERS.

This is happening at the same time Mayor Tyler is putting together her plan to hit us with a $144 a year / $12 a month additional garbage collection fee, starting next year. That will be on top of our continuously rising water and sewer bills over the next many years. She must not know Shreveporters pay some of the highest property taxes anywhere.

And, oh by the way, the “public hearings” on that garbage fee increase will be held on a Saturday and Sunday, apparently late this month. I’m sure no football or church or anything else will be in the way.

For those who pay Gannett News as necessary to see even this lone article online (thank you Lex Talamo for the super reporting!), here is the link … with all the unbelievable details.of the article:…/1-million-lost-w…/91899314/

The next thing we know, some local government agency here is going to tell us a three-wheeled, covered motorcycle is going to be manufactured in the old GM plant.
