Plaquemine man accused of running illegal gambling operation

PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) — State police say the manager of a Plaquemine restaurant is accused of illegally operating a computer-based casino.

In a news release Thursday, troopers say the arrest of Adolfo Gonzales-Lopez, manager of the La Rumba Mexican Grill, came after a monthlong investigation by the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division.

Gonzales-Lopez, of Plaquemine, faces four counts of gambling by electronic sweepstakes device.

Troopers also seized a desktop computer and multiple hard drives as part of the investigation, which is ongoing.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Gonzales-Lopez.
