NEWS NOT GOOD IN SHREVEPORT MAYORAL CAMPAING $$$ REPORTS
Wednesday, October 31, 2018 … 10:43 A.M.
The second round of finance reports in the Shreveport mayor’s race again detail how only two candidates have been successful in raising / spending campaign funds, incumbent Ollie Tyler and newbie pol (and voter, we assume) Adrian Perkins.
For the campaign finance period September 28th through October 17th …
The once-proclaimed “next Barak Obama” raised $43,547 and spent $46,153. He has now gathered-up $175,069, with $68,879 on-hand to spend as of two weeks ago.
The incumbent mayor with maximum name recognition and high negatives has raised a paltry $8,200 and spent $21,636. From total funds raised of $128,525, she had $80,122 on hand as of the 17th of this month.
LEE O. SAVAGE
… $2,225 raised and $2,392 spent in this period … total raised of $12,080 (+$21,247 loaned to his campaign), with $3,437 on hand to spend as of two weeks ago.
… raised $2,835 and spent $9,002 in this period … total raised of $34,250 ($1,500 in loans received), with $2,290 on hand to spend as of the 17th of this month.
… during this reporting period he raised $5,365 and spent $4,879 … has raised a total of $30,671 not including in-kind contributions or personal loans … has $28,623 left to spend.
As local campaign veterans know only too well, a lot of money will now be spent – at least by Tyler and Perkins – on “get out the vote” activities in the black community. Heavily involved in this decades-old process are some ministers, elected officials and various front-men / arrangers.
Given those activities, special campaign finance reports are filed along the way, right up to November 6th. Obviously, not included in those amounts are any illegal cash or other payments by candidates.
(Meanwhile, lest I forget … “Trick or Treat!”)
