NEW CENSUS DATA:  SHREVEPORT POPULATION LOSS CONTINUES

The U. S. Census Bureau today released its official Population Estimates for cities.  These latest population Estimates are through July 1, 2018.  

Shreveport’s population officially stands at 188,987, down from 191,638 one year earlier.  The loss of -2,651 residents is -1.4%.  Since the 2010 Census count of 199,311, Shreveport has lost -10,324 people, or -5.2%.

Shreveport’s peak population in decennial Census headcounts was 205,820 in 1980.  Through July 1, 2018, Shreveport has lost -16,833 residents, or -8.2%. 

Bossier City’s population as of July 1, 2018, was 68,235, down -142 residents from one year earlier.  Bossier City’s 2010 Census population was 61,315.  This new Estimate is +6,920 people, or +11.3%, higher.
